What is Transactional Email?

When you buy an item online, you expect to receive an email confirming your purchase. This is a perfect example of a transactional email.

A specific event has occurred, so you receive a message informing you of this. It’s different to bulk email, because it’s triggered by your actions or an action relating to you. For example - an order confirmation, a notice of renewal, or a donation receipt.

‘Transactional’ does not solely refer to a monetary exchange. Any change to your information can trigger an automatic email, such as a password reset, a newsletter subscription, or a change of address. There are literally hundreds of examples of what transactional email can cover.

Why was Howler created?

We wanted every not-for-profit to have what the big boys have. Fully reactive and responsive email.

At the moment we see you wallowing in a sea of mundane and repetitive administrative tasks. Tasks that do nothing to help with your member experience. Nothing to help your company grow. Nothing to acquire, or to retain customers, members or donors.

We feel that you should be able to send beautiful, immediate and meaningful emails when someone has been interested enough to interact with you –renewing a membership, updating their details, accessing private content – any interaction is valuable.

So be like Qantas, Amazon, eBay and Facebook. Automatically send valuable transactional and communication email to customers, members and donors alike.
